Am I loosing my sense to spell?

I wonder, should I be asking myself such an obvious question when I am still cajoled to use abbreviations and acronyms while texting friends?

YES!

And I say that in fine block letters if you didn't take note. I should state that the inspiration for this post surfaced because of my inability to spell the word "straight" correctly. I found myself helpless while I continuously pressed the backspace button on my computer.
Should the "i" in straight come before the "a"?
Erm no clue. At least not at that moment. I was more interested in uncovering the reason why a pink line still appeared even after several wipes. It was obvious that I had switched some letters around. Well, that's the only explanation I could come up with for the incessant appearance of a pink line. It was then it came to my awareness that I was gradually loosing my sense to spell. I froze in shock as I uncovered this fact. It would be much easier to push all the blame on my constant employment of short forms during text messaging. I mean, I had to fit into the social circle somehow even if I had to give up my sense to spell.
I am not sure how wise of a decision that is and I am wondering should I be bothered about it since in a way, it cannot be helped?

The solemn song

Hey there!
So I recently decided to pull my writing pad out and believe you me, I was in awe of what beauty that laid inside it. I found a poem which I had written years back when I was in a downcast state. I decided it would be fun to take a peep at it and perhaps while I did so, criticize my writing. I engaged in the process jokingly because I was convinced beyond every reasonable doubt that it was time to make a mockery of myself. So I took to the sofa, adjusting my butt till it found the most suitable spot to call home.
Now that I was settled, I begun reading each and every word I penned down. One thing I realized early as I read the first two lines was that I was buried in shock. It didn't take much for me to come to terms why. I realized that I was astounded not because of the way I structured the poem but because of the images that I begun to paint as I read further. I think this is the key thing I am trying to emphasize in this post - Our state of mind structures our perceptions. Hence to put it plainly, I was not taken aback when my thoughts and writing was tilted towards a melancholy state.

I would like to know your stand.
Do you think your mind has the possibility of structuring your thoughts?
Is it possible to have full control of the process?

Here's the poem. I hope it speaks to you as much as it did to me.

It is my silent song of lament

Constructing the "Ideal Self"

I guess when you reach a certain point in life, there is a thought that is always lingering around but does not exactly settle until you take that extra step to pull out a seat and observe a quick quiet time. It is only then you are fully able to dissect it and get a proper glimpse of the situation.

I have been doing a lot of thinking lately. Perhaps it is  because I am around that age where my frontal lobe is developing hence I can be more rational about my environment, policies and most importantly my life. Its no wonder I am beginning to detest noise as I would just like for once to sit peacefully and let my imaginations run wild and paint pictures on my behalf or its no wonder most times I am asked the same question
         "Are you okay?"
because I am beginning to relish quietness.

Favourite Ads of the Week

Oreo Wonderfilled Anthem

Oreo always has one of the best advertisements.
And no I am not just throwing words or making a rash statement because I am a lover of the dark and creamy cookie. My love for it is only a prove that the company has surrounded itself with a good marketing team that is responsible for driving and making things happen.

Now, why do I consider this to be good advertisement? Could it be because of the well crafted lyrics that is available to be downloaded for free on the company's website? Yay! Go Oreos. Or the colourful pictures and enjoyable narration? I wish those were the major driving forces of my decision but they barely came into play here.

I was simply impressed with the message and the extent they went in promoting it. The message being that with  Oreos you can flip everything around which is less of a wonder when the advertisement ends with the words "wonder if I gave an oreo to you" Its almost like a cliffhanger and they leave you to decide what an Oreo would flip around for you. Hunger or .... It's up to you to decide.

The Giver or Receiver in a Relationship

I have overheard people arguing as if their lives depended on it that a man should be the giver in a relationship and the woman, the receiver. Each time I hear this, I cringe and I am almost provoked to put an end to their idle talks but you know how stupid I would look jumping into a strangers conversation. So all I do is to cringe and cringe till I cannot do so anymore. No one needs to tell me to look for the next available seat. Then I ask what was I doing not minding my own business?

Moving on,

I hate to offend anyone with my statement but I solely believe that no one has the sole role of "a receiver" and "a giver" in a relationship. It is true that the man might give more out of affection or he might just be the kind of guy that loves his lady to look good so he spoils her with gifts. I see no problem with that but I do when a lady cannot take the initiative of returning the same favour. The
only time she feels it is right for her to do so, is perhaps during his birthday, maybe on valentine's day and christmas. Who says a gift should be handed only on special occasions?

Experience, the new song

I find it funny that our song towards education is constantly changing. I guess one of the main reasons for this change would be because of the way society is structured. We live in a dynamic society, where things are constantly changing. If we look back to the time when we were born and how society is now, we'll see that there is an enormous difference in how things were and are now ordered. If you do not believe me, try it. The quickest way is  to look at how technologies has evolved over the past few years. There was a time when a diskette was heavily relied upon to store information and slowly the use of a CD and USB became later innovations after this.
Similarly, lego used to be the acceptable toy for a child in the 60's but now it is a whole new story as we see kids this days with iPads and console games.

Silly Games

I was opportune to grace a couple of events some months back and I encountered what I tag as "Interesting Findings." Some of it made me smile and some forced my body to ooze with irritation. For the purpose of this post, I would classify my observations into two categories.

Note - I do exaggerate quite a lot.

The assessment stage
I noticed that before a show commences, a natural cycle of both sexes is formed. Guys are usually stationed at one corner, often loud and chatting about irrelevant topics. They do not fail to put on a stylish stance as they chat

5 Things not to do this Summer

I came up with a list of five things I thought were not summer appropriate because you probably did them all winter and spring. I do not expect you all to agree with me that's why I am posing a challenge to my readers.

This the way it would go. If you disagree let me know why you do. For the neutral readers, let me know the five things you would rather not do this summer. Anyone can post. There might be a surprise for the most creative list so get the list coming.

Remember you cannot repeat what I have posted or that of anyone.

Here are my five things
1) Watch Tons of Movies at the Cinema - I do not expect anyone to spend most of their time this summer at the movies.  I do not see how that is fun when you can possibly go out to do something more entertaining and worthwhile. Do not get me wrong, its okay to watch a few movies during summer. A selected few would be appropriate but do not go crazy with it. If you are the kind that

Summer with the Bikey

So summer is fast approaching and I know a lot of you have been singing the phrase "I can't wait till summer approaches".

I'm not sure how many times I have uttered that phrase in the past few weeks but I know for sure that if I was to be fined for the amount of times I did, I would probably be in debt by now. I
Know I am not alone. We all can't wait for the feel of the hot sun over our body.
Just a few days ago with the same eagerness, I stumbled on a website that manufactures bikes. I sat there starring into space and wondering about what better way to enjoy summer with a non conventional kind of bike. How fun would it be? The occasional stares and thoughts from passer-by and possibly questions you can't help but laugh hard at.

"Ooh that's a cool bike. Where did you get that from?"
"Is that custom made?"

The History Behind "Keep Calm and Carry On"

Ever wondered about the history behind one of the most popular memes? Yes, No, whatever? I would wave your thoughts and just show you.

What do you think? Amazing eh?
Well, I didn't show you this video because I wanted you to be in awe. If I did, I would have shown you something more fascinating. Rather,  I posted this for you to be aware of how things get commodified quickly and we remain oblivious to that fact.
